Orlando has the Magic Touch from Three

It was a long range shooting display unlike any other. To say the Magic’s shooters were hot is an understatement. They were burning.

The Orlando Magic broke the NBA record for most 3-point-field goals made, by hitting 23 of 37 from deep in a 139-107 rout over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

They broke the previous record held by the Toronto Raptors having hit 21 in 2005.

2nd year player Jeremy Richardson hit the record breaking three with 2:20 left in the 4th quarter. Jameer Nelson was 5-5 from three-point range, while J.J Redick and Keith Bogans each added 4. Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu hit three a piece from three. Courtney Lee, Brian Cook, and Anthony Johnson each made one- three pointer to bring the team total to 23.

The lackadaisical defense played by the Kings helped the Magic’s cause. They got many open three-point attempts and took advantage of it, adding to their already league leading 407 three-point field goals made.

Orlando looks forward to continuing their Magic touch against the Lakers on Friday night.
